Problems with external monitor configuration and video playback on the ROG Strix G634JZ
Hello, I'm facing a recurring problem with my ASUS ROG STRIX G634JZ laptop while using external monitors and streaming videos. Setup details: two Samsung C24F390FHL monitors (24 inches) connected via the laptop’s first USB-C port using a Ugreen dongle to HDMI, and the second through the laptop’s HDMI port, which passes through my Samsung HT-F5530K home theater system before reaching the second screen. Operating System is Windows 11 Pro; graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (laptop); driver version 555.99 (DCH). Monitors are 1080p Full HD. The issue arises only when launching a video streaming app and starting a video. I’ve tested Netflix, HBO, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video using both web browsers and native apps, but the problem persists across all of them. It starts immediately after playback begins, regardless of whether I have two monitors or all three. The only responsive window is the streaming app; the rest freezes or displays a black screen. Temporary fix: opening a YouTube video in another tab resolves the issue—switching back to the streaming app works without freezing or black screens. Additional notes: my HDMI cables likely lack 4K support, yet monitors run at 1080p. The laptop stays cool and quiet, uses AC power with turbo mode on, and all cores are enabled. The problem is exclusive to streaming apps; other programs don’t trigger it. Any insights into the cause or a permanent solution would be greatly appreciated.
