Hey everyone, I’m facing an issue where my processor (7100U) slows down to 380MHz when running demanding tasks like CSGO. I’m not sure it’s due to overheating since it only dropped at 50°C and XTU confirmed it. After a full Windows reinstall, adjusting power settings, and using the laptop on battery, I’ve tried everything. Thanks in advance for your help.
I own a comparable machine and played a lot of MHW on it this summer when temperatures exceeded 40°C. I didn’t encounter any problems. I use a budget laptop cooler, but it functions fine. If you install a cooler, just avoid connecting it directly to your laptop—use an external power supply (you’re warned). That’s not typical; my machine is an i5U and rarely drops to its base speed even under throttling, which is why I added a cooler. Spoiler: many think you can’t run MHW on a cheap Lenovo model—you definitely can, especially at 800x600 with low settings, maintaining over 30fps most of the time, around 50 during missions.

Consider replacing Intel XTU with ThrottleStop. When using ThrottleStop, select the Limits option and check if red indicators appear when throttling occurs. BD PROCHOT is the frequent culprit. If red appears, clear the checkbox on the main ThrottleStop interface. Lenovo also employs additional throttling methods. Activating Speed Shift in the TPL window and setting Speed Shift - EPP to 0 could also resolve your concern. Share more screenshots and I’ll assist further.
