Problems with consistency in non-OC Ryzen 7 5700X processor
I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5700X. I also purchased my first NVMe drive and increased my RAM. 1- Because my motherboard is a B450M, I had to update the BIOS to support my new CPU. Now, when I try to access my BIOS, I either see a black screen or the system crashes completely. I can still boot into my operating system, though it isn’t very smooth or reliable. My friend suggested shorting the JBT pins, and we managed to open the BIOS once, but I can’t get it back up again. 2- To check stability, I installed AIDA64 and ran a stress test. When cache stress is enabled, the test fails right away. Interestingly, both CPU and motherboard temperatures are normal around 40°C. 3- I attempted to install Geometry Dash on Steam to evaluate my new monitor and PC. When I started it, my second monitor or Discord call froze, my main monitor went dark for about 15 seconds, the mouse cursor disappeared, the game and PC kept freezing, and I struggled to close it. After exiting, my monitor’s pixels weren’t aligned properly. 4- My system seems to boot more slowly than before with this CPU and SSD. My PC now shows details in my profile.
Do you have your earlier CPU available for BIOS access? Which BIOS version are you running? The current one is 7C87v181, intended for the 5800x3d 7C87v17 and 7C87v15 models. This update introduced 5000 support. I’m unsure if MSI offers BIOS downgrading options, which could be useful if you prefer non-beta releases.
It’s not recommended to short the jbat1 pins again unless you’re certain about what you’re doing. Consider checking your setup first.
