Hey there, just built my new PC a few days back. When I jump into Fortnite, I keep hearing a lot of coil whine from both the PSU and GPU. Can I fix it by swapping out the PSU? My PSU is Bequiet! Pure Power 12 M 750 W, GPU is XFX RADEON RX 6950 XT.

Checking if a replacement power supply can lower GPU coil noise.

It really doesn't help much, though many 6950XTs are sensitive to coil whine. I’d suggest a 750W PSU is probably too low for that model—aim for at least 850W, but it’s unlikely to stop the whine entirely.

Here’s the summary of the PC part list: it mentions the build requires 540 watts. You’re wondering if reducing coil whine would still be possible with an 850W power supply, since you feel similar noise levels are present.

It's just an approximation. It looks like your PSU might struggle to provide power for the 6950XT, even if the PSU has some coil whine issues. You should look for a PSU without any obvious coil whine, though the GPU can still vary slightly when switching PSUs. Most 6950XTs mainly experience coil whine in different ways.
