Hello all, Many moons ago I purchased an X99 Deluxe board from Microcenter as an Open-Box Item. It was my first adventure on an HEDT platform that I had drooled over for so long. At one point I plugged in a USB drive and the system shut down. From that point on the board has the dreaded "USB Device Over Current Status detected! System will shut down in 15 seconds." Big sad. I made an emergency run to a local-ish (2 hours) microcenter and picked up an Asus X99 Deluxe II board and transferred everything over, called it a day and tossed the old X99 Deluxe board back in its box and put it in the closet, forgotten until recently. I had honestly forgotten that there was an issue with the board and picked up a E5 2680-V4 and 64g of RAM to get this guy up and running again. I threw together some parts that I had from a previous build and though I'd be off to the races. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to get rid of this Over Current Status again and I can find nothing about it. Anyone have any success with resolving anything similar? I've checked the ports on the board and see no notable issues, headers have their pins, nothing is charred, ports have all of their pins and nothing appears to be shorted. My guess is that the asmedia ASM1074 chips died with that USB drive or there is a fuse that popped and needs to be removed from the board. I've been looking for schematics to figure out what the chips do but cant seem to find anything. TLDR: X99 Deluxe board shutdown due to USB Device Over Current when bad USB drive inserted, trying to revive board. Edit: I have also tried and successfully updated the bios to 4101, tried clearing CMOS, and removing the CMOS battery and letting everything discharge. Edit2: On further inspection the left USB3 header had a pin break off. It looks like it was a clean break and there is a nubbin of a pin left in the hole. Not sure if this is the issue or not.. Doesn't appear to be touching anything. I'd imagine this would just prevent Port2 from working when plugged into this header. Green Ports appear to detect keyboard on boot. Red ports are a no go. Both front panel USB2 ports work in either socket. Both USB3 ports work on right USB3 header Edited July 20, 2021 by Burserg Uploaded pictures showing working/non working ports.
