Problems with Asus TUF OC RTX 3060Ti and dual monitors setup
I’ve got a lot of experience with PCs and consider myself a fan. I assembled my own system and initially had an RTX 2060 inside. Everything functioned smoothly, and I was using two monitors. They’re both fairly old, so I was past due for a new display, but they still worked well with the 2060. I connected them via a VGA to HDMI cable, and everything ran perfectly. Then I upgraded to a 3060 Ti because I faced problems while playing FiveM with the older model. The situation turned bad after installation. To be clear, both screens would shut down together, appearing black, and the activity lights on each monitor seemed to indicate the PC was off. On their own, with cables plugged in, they operated fine. My main screen was a Samsung model (monitor A), and my secondary was an older Acer one (monitor B). When monitor A was active, I could play games and everything worked perfectly; similarly, with only monitor B on, the experience was identical. Eventually, I tried using AnyDesk to connect to my PC when both screens were off. It turned out that if monitor A was connected first, then switching to monitor B caused monitor A to disappear, while putting monitor B in first made monitor B vanish. I eliminated several possibilities: power supply unit, drivers, cables, and even the GPU itself. The GPU seemed fine, handling games at high frame rates without issues—except when using two monitors. I’ve filed a return request but remain unsure what might be causing this dual-monitor issue. I’m worried it could recur with a new GPU or that another setting might be misconfigured. When I sent the new GPU for the RMA, I switched to my old one and am now using both monitors. Dual monitors are supported on it. I had two ideas: Theory one suggested Windows might change settings that disable dual monitor support, possibly due to BIOS or a specific detection of the 3060ti. Theory two questioned how video signals are managed on the GPU, wondering if a built-in controller or something in the card could cause signal diversion to just one output. I’m still unsure and this has challenged my understanding of PCs.
the new monitor? no no xD, i sent the 3060ti back and im waiting for the new one to come. thing is i looked in bios and found nothing related to dual monitors. i was just hoping someone somwhere 1 year ago or something heard about an issue like this or related to this, because on google i cant seem to find anything.
