Wow, I was shocked I missed that step. I thought a failed XMP would bring it back to the maximum instead of reverting to the default 2400. Thanks a lot for the guidance! They’re now working at 3000mhz.
I tried "3000" RAM and it only worked at 2933, but fine, and 3200 RAM is fine with the R5 3600 CPU on a 50$ MSI B350 board... (the well-known Corsair Vengeance cheapest RAM available : D). But I can't overclock with that RAM at all, it gives me immediate BSOD xD *now I have Trident Z 3200 up to 3600... without much trouble (at 1.36v) My machine doesn't have any issues with this, thankfully~
I typically rely on cpuz or hwinfo64 which provide detailed info like temperatures and voltages, though they sometimes have issues—like giving fake RAM part numbers or wrong board types. TaskManager usually only shows the actual half-speed of RAM, which isn’t always reliable. I prefer Corsair Link for real-time data such as temps and fan speeds because it’s super fast and always works with my custom PSU curves. Point is, these tools help me quickly verify things that other programs can’t.
