Problems with AMD driver timeouts
Hi, I set up my PC at the beginning of the year and everything worked well. A few months ago things started to fail—games would crash and the screen would briefly go black, but audio stayed on. Once the screen recovered, the AMD crash tool reported a driver timeout. This issue appears consistently in some titles while others run smoothly, like Black Ops 6 versus Dark Souls. My system specs are a 7800X3D, 7800XT with a 750W PSU. I've used various fixes: updated drivers, DDU clean install, tried older versions, adjusted settings in Registry, changed temperatures, and even considered BIOS updates or SSD replacement. Tomorrow I plan to update the BIOS and reset the SSD before reinstalling Windows. I'm not very familiar with advanced software stuff, so I'm unsure what else to try. Have anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution? Also, is it likely a GPU issue, or should I consider replacing it?
Just to mention: AMD SW indicating a driver timeout doesn't necessarily mean the card is faulty. It suggests the system experienced some instability, so the driver stopped working to bring everything back to normal. The problem might actually be with unstable RAM or the CPU instead. Look into those too.
You should evaluate each component individually and compare their outputs to identify the source of the issue.
