I'm experiencing some unusual problems with this card. Over time, I've noticed strange behavior when overclocking the core clock—it's mostly stable—but when I try to overclock the memory clock, I encounter all these bizarre readings. Even with standard clocks, my GPU shows excessive activity, especially when the PC is idle. The main issue seems to be that after overclocking the memory, my system crashes after about 10 minutes of playing a game. I'm not sure what's causing this, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Daniel Thomas shares his observations about malware affecting PC performance, noting high GPU usage and difficulty with gaming. He suggests reinstalling Windows or testing again if the issue persists. He mentions Chrome as a potential culprit and references unusual system activity that disappears when Chrome is closed. The post concludes with plans to update after acquiring an SSD.

There are some unusual problems with my GPU. I've been experiencing strange behavior lately. When adjusting the core clock, it works well, but changing the memory clock causes unexpected readings. Even with normal stock clocks, the GPU becomes very active, and sometimes it crashes after about 10 minutes of playing a game, even when the PC is idle. After overclocking the memory, my system frequently shuts down after a short gaming session. I'm not sure what's causing this issue, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've only just responded to this discussion, or possibly one of the previous ones. It seems my reply isn't visible there.

Daniel Thomas asked about possible reasons for his GPU instability and frequent crashes. He mentioned experiencing strange behavior even when using stock clock speeds, with abnormal readings during memory clock overclock attempts. He also noted crashes after playing games for around ten minutes, especially when the PC is idle. He shared details of his system and provided links to his drive for reference.

He sought advice on how to properly overclock without causing issues, emphasizing the importance of testing stability before making changes.

Please keep it in one thread.
Roland Of Gilead:
I’ve only just responded to this thread, or one of these. I don’t see my reply there.
I’ve actually overclocked a few times before. I’ve even changed the GPU settings on my laptop (GTX 1050), and that one seems stable. The issue is in the graphs—those readings are without any overclocking at all, which is unusual. Why does my activity fluctuate when nothing is happening? And why does my GPU only crash if I add a small +50 boost to just the memory clock? That’s not normal for most GPUs. Even my laptop clocks are higher than that. Could it be related to the card itself or something else?

Silicon lottery. There are no assurances when boosting performance. Various components respond differently—some excel, others struggle. It's typical to find a pre-built card that's nearly optimal or near its maximum potential.

Silicon lottery. There are no assurances when overclocking. Some components perform well while others struggle. It's normal to find a factory-optimized card already near its limits. I think that explains it. Perhaps I should focus on fine-tuning the core until I reach a stable performance without crashes. Regarding GPU usage, especially with only daily applications like Chrome running, I shouldn't expect unusual spikes in the graph. Could background processes be consuming my GPU in ways I'm not aware of?
