Problems reported with KB5041019 and KB504042 for Windows 10
Are there any others experiencing problems with KB5041019 and KB504042? After restarting, the update process remained stuck around 94% for about two hours, even after a hard reset. It continued looping without reaching 100%, and media creation tools helped restore some functionality so I could access Windows. Later attempts to update using ISO and media creation tool got stuck at 84% for three hours with no progress. After another reset, the system displayed only a black screen with just a mouse cursor visible. I've run SFC, DISM, and CHKDSK but nothing resolved the issue. I haven't reformatted the drive since Windows 10 was released and intend not to anymore. It worked perfectly until now. The only solution so far is to temporarily ignore or disable those updates—especially since support for Win10 ends in October 2025. Any advice or information would be very helpful. Thank you.
It's disappointing since the issue would be resolved quickly, restoring normal operations in just 20 minutes.
I understand, but I prefer not to reinstall around 4tb of software since many are available on discs.
You might consider saving them to an external hard drive or a large USB drive...
On multiple machines I’ve done this. I just skip it and keep going. Of course, refreshing the operating system every couple of years is a good habit—it removes mess and resolves all those small software glitches I know restarting an OS can be frustrating. For my satellite units it’s about three hours, while my primary system takes around four days.
The issue is I can't log into Windows anymore, only seeing a black screen with no cursor. It seems the recent updates might have damaged my user account. Regarding your question—yes, you can back up your user profile before reinstalling and restore it later if needed.
Only safe mode functions, all others fail... I've attempted nearly every solution, including DSIM, CHKDSK, SFC, and creating a new profile in safe mode, but it hasn't helped.
