Problems installing a fresh Windows 10 version.
Hello everyone, I’m looking for some guidance on setting up a clean Windows 10 installation from a USB drive using the official tool on the Microsoft site. Here are my questions:
1. Should I format the USB with NTFS, FAT32, or exFAT? And what size allocation unit should I use? Does this affect anything?
2. The installation media tool is failing to launch and showing error codes. I’ll share those after another try.
3. After a previous clean install, the startup screen shows the Windows logo in blue instead of the usual Asus one. Also, when I press power, a small white bar appears on the top left that blinks. Is this related to BIOS? Any advice would be appreciated!
Additionally, could someone explain how to read a dump file? I’d love to understand what’s happening with my installation issue. Thanks in advance for your help!
1. Apply FAT32 and keep the rest unchanged.
2. It's difficult to determine. With an ISO file you might try tools such as Rufus.
3. Do you own a laptop or another prebuilt unit? Those usually require a tailored installation and should be reinstalled via recovery partition or manufacturer-provided utilities. Retail ISO files are fine, but you lose any special settings. You can later add startup logos if needed.
The flashing cursor could indicate the motherboard is checking for boot devices. You can switch the OS drive to the first location to avoid this. Windows includes a built-in utility for viewing dump files. You may use a text editor like Notepad or install third-party software (I don't recall its exact name at the moment).
