Hello everyone! I'm facing some challenges with iRacing on my PC and would appreciate a fresh perspective. The forum suggested upgrading to an R7 5700x3d/5800x3d/9700x CPU, which I’m considering but want confirmation it’s the best solution. Recently, while using the Ray FF1600, I noticed frame rates dropping from 120fps to 40-50fps with noticeable stutters. My current setup is a Ryzen 9 5900x with 32GB DDR4, an RTX 4070 Ti, and a Pimax NVMe SSD. I’ve done some quality reduction to boost performance. Could switching to an X3D or AM5 CPU really make a significant difference? I’d rather avoid jumping platforms if possible—AM5 is still early, and I’m not ready to upgrade mid-lifecycle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Switching to an X3D CPU will bring significant improvements. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D takes advantage of the 3D-V Cache for gaming, offering a substantial performance boost. If you prefer not to upgrade but still aim for better results, consider adjusting your settings or resolution. However, avoid moving from a Ryzen 9 5900X to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D—this would be a step backward due to lower speeds and fewer cores.

The 4070 Ti Super seems struggling to keep up with 120hz 4K VR gaming. I’d consider boosting the GPU to the 4090 or opting for a less demanding headset such as the Quest 3.

I’ve lowered the resolution near 2k per panel and set most quality controls to low. This was my first problem. I’ll review my OpenXR settings later today and rewatch the optimization videos just in case. I hope Nvidia focuses more on raster performance—there’s no real reason to settle for a 50 series card if I don’t want to pay at least $2k.

It's good to hear. I understood the plan, though I'm holding off to check how much more I can get from my 5900x by tweaking the settings.
