I upgraded from an i3-3220 to a i5-3470 and confirmed compatibility, so the change worked smoothly. After updating, I encountered wsock32.dll errors in Steam and other programs, but multiple fixes didn’t resolve the problem. Based on what I found, it seems the issue might be a corruption of the Windows operating system itself, requiring a reset. What are your thoughts on this?

It could fail since Intel's chip designs support only two years of CPU compatibility.

You might consider using system restore, but based on my perspective, simply reinstalling Windows seems to be the issue here. This appears to be a Windows bug. If you have any concerns, please feel comfortable asking them here—me and the others will be happy to help you through it.
