Problems during the re-installation of W10
I chose to reinstall Windows by removing the USB drive and downloading the .iso file from Microsoft’s official site. After extracting the data onto the USB, I removed all partitions except my external HDD, then installed Windows on the main SSD drive. Everything seemed to set up perfectly until I reached the desktop. Along the way, I encountered several problems. First, it appears the Microsoft Store recognizes apps I’ve “purchased” without logging in—this is likely because the information comes from my offline drive, which only contains large files like games and videos. Another issue arose after about six minutes: I lost the ability to type in the Windows search bar. Even basic settings disappeared, leaving me unable to type except for programs such as Discord, Chrome, and others. Additionally, changing my profile picture on the offline account triggered an error: “Account picture error, setting the account picture failed.” I suspect the partitions weren’t fully cleared, leaving behind residual data that’s causing conflicts. I’ve tried reinstalling Windows again, but the same issues persist. If anyone can clarify what’s happening or suggest a proper method for a clean installation, please let me know! Also, it seems my system only shows the installed Windows items, no extra pre-installed software—this might be a clue about what’s going wrong.
Consider checking for any executable files installed across all drives after installation.
You might want to download the drivers directly from your motherboard's website.
It seems your setup might be damaged. Consider reinstalling it and clearing all data from the SSD.
I misunderstood, yes there are likely various files on my external drive, such as .exe and .dlls, because it used to hold games. However, I don't think there should be any on the SSD I'm installing since I removed everything by deleting partitions through the Windows installer.
It's fascinating. You're welcome for sharing your thoughts—it clears things up.
Sure, I'll test the idea by reinstalling without connecting the other drive.
