I built a computer recently and dont want to use windows os, ive tried to use Ubuntu and Linux Mint both trying to install from a 32gb 2.0 flash drive, there is no other operating system on the computer and with each OS I get the same error, "Not enough memory to load specified image. boot:" having no expeirence with any type of Linux OS im not exactly sure if this is an OS issue, ive built computers in the past but have only ever used windows and never gotten this error, the parts in the pc are as follows Ryzen 3 1300x MSI x370 gaming plus motherboard 8g Kingston hyper fury x black ddr4 nvidia gtx 760 evga 500w b psu toshiba 500gb ssd any advise would be very appreciated as the computer is going to be a gift so im slowly running out of time to get this resolved. thank you.
You can start the OS from the live CD, or it will jump straight to the setup screen. If it boots successfully, the installation should proceed without issues. If not, verify that your BIOS supports booting from the USB drive.
I encounter this display on both Mint and Ubuntu versions when I attempt to use it. I've tested Ubuntu 16.4 and 17.1, but both result in errors during startup or installation. @Jiaweeeee I don't see any documentation about my boot settings in the BIOS.
Open the terminal using Ctrl-Alt-F2, then execute free dmesg | grep Memory to view kernel messages.
Checked the flash drive settings—using NTFS instead of FAT32 caused a distinct error message that seemed almost alike.
I generated the USB drive by processing the data directly onto the storage medium. It seems the system attempted to pull the image straight from the source.
