If it's typical then I'm fine with it. I've never seen this before and assumed it was related to 'MSI'. Just like how EVGA's thermal pads can leak. I wasn't sure about VRMs causing this either. Overall, no worries and appreciation for the explanation.

It's just thermal paste from the pads, not necessarily cheap—it's common on most boards. Since it isn't conductive, it won't damage anything.

It seems cleaning with isopropyl alcohol isn't very helpful. If any of it seeps past the thermal pads, it shouldn't matter. The alcohol dries so fast, right?
