I purchased a used Toshiba laptop, installed the Portage Z30-C, and ran the latest Windows 11 version without issues except for a minor issue: the touchpad scrolling isn’t enabled and isn’t listed in the settings. I attempted to update drivers via Windows Update and checked the official support site, but nothing worked. Could it be a problem with the touchpad itself?

If you installed the OS using an internet connection and allowed it to download and install drivers, it might have missed finding the correct device drivers.

Select the OS from the dropdown, then navigate to keyboard and touchpad in the left pane. Updated drivers should appear (Synaptics or Alps).
Once downloaded, install the driver via an elevated command—right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator.
Please ensure your BIOS is up to date for the laptop.

Consider checking the list using Powershell's Get-PNPDevice cmdlet. Open Powershell with admin privileges and execute the command. Note that the relevant details might appear in the "FriendlyName" section.
Thank you for the reply. I just completed a BIOS update and it worked properly, but the touch device isn't appearing in Device Manager. The touchpad is functioning correctly, though scrolling remains disabled.
there's no device in a name like touchpad,

Some of those "Unknown" 's need to be investigated.

Interesting:

So you can move the screen cursor about via the touchpad and likewise "click" etc..
Not being able to Scroll being the only problem - correct?

What about the Accessibility and Personalization options - were you able to check them?
Also, the drivers may indeed be an issue: possibly buggy or corrupted.
Run the built in Windows troubleshooters - the troubleshooters may find and fix something.
Then, if necessary try running "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to find and fix file problems.
Objective simply being to narrow down the possible reasons for scrolling not working.
I really appreciate your time and help, it was a simple and funny mistake by my side, so I was trying to install Synaptic drivers and forget that it could be another hardware, I tried ALPS and it worked.
