Someone I know reached out with an issue today and I’m unsure what to do. When she attempted to launch her laptop (Asus ROG – not sure which model) and log in, it reported a program blocking her access. After restarting, she arrived at the update screen that says new updates are available; it’s been stuck there for about five hours. I’m struggling to figure out the next steps and would really appreciate any advice from others. Thanks ahead of time.

Is there an SSD on her laptop? It might slow things down if it runs out of speed. You could also power it off, which will halt updates and make it attempt to restart again later.

She has an SSD, I advised her to restart sooner, but she didn’t want to. I suggested giving it a try and will share an update once it works or doesn’t.
