Recently, my controller worked fine on my desktop, but stopped functioning after a while. Most features are still usable except for the D-pad, analog stick, and sometimes the B button. Someone might have some advice.

It's Windows 10, and you only have this one version.

Are only these inputs failing or does the whole controller stop? If the former, your controller could be outdated. If the latter, verify your device manager. If it isn’t listed there, look for “find and fix problems” on your computer (or check the control panel) and try it. Sometimes Windows 10 behaves strangely with my wireless receiver because it doesn’t recognize a genuine Microsoft device.

They don't function consistently across platforms—some games on Steam work, but others on Gog.com or other sites won't register any buttons.

It feels like your system is deciding which games you can access.

It was a poor choice on Steam that ruined everything, but you did a great job assisting me.
