I set them to factory defaults then installed the newest firmware. When I switched them out of bridge mode, NAT strict activated and port forwarding failed even though I had configured it on the router. I also tested playing Xbox without the routers and didn’t make any changes.

It could indicate an issue with your modem or internet service provider. Xbox doesn’t require port forwarding, though it can still assist slightly.

My ISP is a small business owner. I believe that's why I need to redirect traffic, since most services weren't functioning properly. Your advice was really helpful, it gave me some confidence at least temporarily.

It might be that your internet service provider isn't compatible with Xbox due to a recent server update or other changes.

Just a quick note for anyone interested. I haven’t heard back from MS yet, but if I connect via 4G phone hotspot and plug in an Ethernet cable, I managed to stay online at the party. It’s frustrating—no confirmation on whether it will work again, but it’s something.
