Problem with Windows Installer The installer isn't functioning properly.
I recently bought an SSD and wanted to perform a fresh Windows 10 setup. Mostly the installer functioned properly—starting from my USB drive, selecting the SSD, partitioning it, etc. But after downloading updates and restarting, the device wouldn’t boot at all. Initially I thought maybe I left the flash drive unplugged! Unfortunately, I soon discovered the SSD wouldn’t even power on. It doesn’t matter which SATA port I connect it to, whether I use Legacy or UEFI settings, etc. If I had a guess, I’d say the installer failed; sadly I’m not sure how to locate others and can’t wait for Microsoft to release an updated version. My drive is in AHCI mode, and it’s the sole connected storage besides the installation media at setup time. If something is wrong, I’d appreciate any advice you have. Thanks ahead of time.
The computer won’t start at all when only the SSD is connected. Since I haven’t cleaned up my HDD, it still works, but I didn’t connect it during the Windows installation on the SSD. In BIOS they look the same, so if the HDD can boot the SSD it should be able to do the same. I’ve also tried using it on different machines, which makes me think the issue is with the SSD itself.
