I ended up damaging my computer during a factory reset when things went wrong. The disc is broken, and I don’t want to spend money on a new one because I’m selling the machine anyway. If you have any suggestions, that would be helpful. I still have the key code. Thanks, bye.

Are you referring to a CD drive or a hard drive? Both are options available.

I didn't break anything, just explained it in a different way. What part specifically confused you?

Before I restarted it, it mentioned missing files needed to continue. Then inserting the CD or DVD caused a break at around 68%, and after about two hours the machine powered off, leaving only half of the operating system installed.

I thought it was a CD drive because I looked at it and the disc still works. But then it stopped working after my second use.

Yes, you can store this on a USB drive and use it to boot your system.

Get the Windows 8.1 ISO file and make a USB drive that can boot from it. Many online guides can walk you through the process more clearly than I can.
