Resolved the issue by reinstalling Windows instead of performing a full reset. The system now starts quickly, but login requires a pin and now demands the original password, which the family member no longer remembers. A password key file exists, but generating it before the reset would have been necessary. Overall, it’s a satisfactory solution. What should be done next?

Type any password and it will display the "Forgotten password" choice. Press it and proceed with the instructions.

I attempted that, but the message asks for removable media like a usb flash drive. Please connect a usb flash drive and then try again. If I insert a random drive it presents the reset wizard but then mentions it needs the password key from the original post, which I would have needed to create while still having access to the account.
