Usually it's due to an antivirus program or similar software triggering the issue. Consider removing any third-party applications if available.

The ideal choice is a clean, fresh installation of Win10. Ensure you have your Windows Key ready throughout the procedure.

I performed a fresh, clean setup of Windows 10 from Windows 7 on an Acer laptop just yesterday. As long as you have your activation key, it should work. Based on what I know, you can transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10 using the key until the end of the year.

It seems the download wasn't completing and I received an error. I removed a few third-party apps in hopes it would help. I also hope they'll accept my Windows 7 key.

Perform a fresh installation to erase all partitions, then rebuild and format them with NTFS. Ensure you're using the 64-bit version of Windows for a smooth process.

I’d try that, but I already have certain files on the drive I want to retain. Clearing all partitions wouldn’t be practical for me, and I don’t have another storage option to transfer everything. I’m counting on this download completing once a few third-party programs are removed. It’s currently at 45%.
