Problem with Windows 10 installation or setup.
Hi everyone, I just received some questions at school about updating Windows 10. I’m not very familiar with changing operating systems—I even messed up a USB drive while trying to install an Ubuntu ISO file. I went through every program on my PC to see if it offered an upgrade option, but it turns out I don’t have it installed. My current system is Windows 7 Home Premium, and I’m not sure why that’s the case. I know my PC isn’t powerful, but it should still work with Windows 10 since it’s less demanding than Windows 7. I’m trying to figure out where to find the upgrade instructions so I can research it myself. Thanks for your help! DaWorinator
I encountered the same problem as you. Please try this approach—it works for me perfectly. It may take a while. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...99a883265b
To secure Windows 10, verify your system updates and install any available optional patches. I had to download a specific patch before reserving mine, as it was required. Unless you're interested in the Windows 10 beta version, which seems more like an installation process, don't assume you can upgrade there.
It doesn't depend on the specific version of Windows you're using; what matters is whether all updates are installed. The edition you currently have determines the possible upgrade path, which in turn matches the Windows 10 edition available. Since you're on Home Premium, you're limited to Windows 10 Home only. It's helpful that they're proceeding this way since it allows for downloading pre-release files, making upgrades easier later. This issue is common among users, including myself, when dealing with the Windows 10 icon.
