I assembled my PC a little over a week ago. I'm using the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an ASUS X670E-E Gaming board. At first, temperatures stayed between 45°C and 50°C during idle, but I encountered issues with the RAM when it ran at high speeds. The system would freeze if I pushed the speed above 5000MHz, so I had to flash the BIOS to get it working. I wasn’t sure about updating the BIOS but decided to do it a few days back. After the update, the RAM operates at 6000MHz while idle temps hovered from 50°C to 63°C. I ran Cinebench R23 continuously three times; the peak temperature reached 82°C. Are Asus addressing voltage problems for AMD X3D processors? If not, should I try undervolting the CPU manually? I’m running BIOS version 1709.

Hey there, I understand the situation with AMD a bit better now. Adjusting the voltage on either side is almost standard since most motherboards come with higher than ideal settings. If your idle temperatures are within normal ranges and the cooling setup is fine, try reducing the voltage a bit and see how it affects performance. I’m not sure about the current norms for recent AMD chips, but someone might have more insight here.

Slightly elevated yet not too much Concerned Did you attempt undervolting /Curve Optimizer? It performed well on Zen3 but appears extraordinary on Zen4 to handle temperatures
