I was trying to improve the performance of GTA by addressing FPS issues, but it wasn’t a major problem. The video suggested adjusting virtual memory settings, which I did and saw the game become much worse afterward. It’s confusing since I also tried disabling it again without success. I’m looking for others who might have faced similar problems or any advice. The link provided was: https://youtu.be/0Dj1IPd-i0Q

The guidance in that video is clearly incorrect. Switching optimisation to Background Services instead of Programs will make Windows focus more on background tasks rather than the applications you’re using. This approach should only be applied on servers with many services running. On a personal computer, this adjustment will severely affect how all programs perform. The person who made the video seems unfamiliar with the actual impact of these changes and doesn’t grasp that Virtual Memory (or a Page File) isn’t meant to replace RAM in memory-constrained games—it’s actually much slower and could worsen performance. A Page File might assist Word when it runs low on RAM, but it won’t help with GTA V or similar games.

System setup -> Boot section - Advanced options - appears as intended.

Thanks! It’s strange I keep getting distracted by YouTube. With 16 GB I think GTA isn’t really set up well.

It's not about lack of optimization, just built for systems from around 2012. Turning off the page file is rarely wise.
