Problem with USB Wi-Fi adapter linking to home network
I recently purchased this wireless USB Wi-Fi adapter from Amazon. It’s designed to replace my old, slow adapter that caused noticeable lag in games. With it, I can connect to my mobile hotspot without issues, but I’m having trouble linking to my Xfinity router. The RX 580 blocks the port, so I’m limited to using this solution. Any advice on getting connected or should I be stuck?
Your mobile hotspot operates on a specific Wi-Fi standard, while your Xfinity router supports the same technology. The device should function backward compatible, though details may be limited. The Amazon listing lacks technical precision and uses somewhat unclear language (and a lot of awkward phrasing). ~edit: Could the adapter detect nearby Wi-Fi networks (especially if others are nearby) and does your router’s range affect performance?
I believe the connection isn't visible at all (OP: Could it be a hidden SSID?). Running the command `netsh wlan show interfaces` will display the available network details.
Consider using the driver straight from Realtek. Occasionally, the supplier or Windows Update driver may have issues. https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo...u-software
Did you just confirm the right password? That’s the same alert you see when you try a wrong one.
Have you attempted to reboot the Xfinity gateway? Even when other aspects function properly, I've noticed that resetting your wireless connection occasionally resolves problems.
