Problem with Twitch streaming performance Issues affecting stream quality and viewer experience
I recently installed a new monitor (LG 27MP65, 27 inch, 1080p). After some time I observed different wired scaling on Twitch compared to my old one (BqnQ GL2240, 21.5 inch, 1080p). Both displays had solid wired scaling with black bars. Fullscreen works perfectly, even in theater mode. Why is this happening? Is there a way to fix it? I'm really into watching streams! P.S. Don't worry about me for LoL.
You're asking about your current monitor's aspect ratio for streaming purposes.
16:9 fullscreen works fine. When I return both menus, it returns to normal (though slightly). This was consistent before the new monitor was installed.
Are you curious about performance with "Source" quality? I also have two monitors, but I rarely watch in full screen since I prefer seeing the chat. Have you considered maximizing the browser window instead of going full screen? Also, try hiding the chat (the little arrow next to the chat on the top right). Is the monitor you're using for Twitch running at native resolution?
Page opens in fullscreen but shows the original window size. Display settings are set to native resolution.
The black bars fit perfectly. The stream’s aspect ratio is 16:9, yet your player size appears wider than that since you narrowed the side panels to 21:9. You didn’t increase the window height—just the width—which explains the bars. Ensure you check the display resolution shown in this image. On a 1080p panel with sidebars, it’s 1280x720p; without sidebars it’s 1542x869p (not a 16:9 format).
It's functioning correctly now. The Twitch video "box" adjusts to the horizontal space on your screen. Removing side menus and the chat area lets it fit within the available space. If you're not satisfied, inform the Twitch support team—they likely handle vertical scaling automatically based on your resolution or browser settings. You could try using Ctrl + + or Ctrl + - to adjust scaling in your browser.
