Problem with the new RAM installation
Problem with the new RAM installation
Hey everyone, I recently got a new system. It comes with 16GB DDR4 2666MHz CL20 RAM (model Kd4ags88c-26n1900). The specs say it's compatible with my i7-7700HQ and GTX 1050. When I tried to boot, it didn’t even recognize the BIOS. I switched to a 2666MHz 4GB stick and it worked fine. My old RAM was 8GB at 2400MHz, but together with an 8GB it booted but only had 8GB usable. When I checked the max supported capacity, it showed 33MB. I tried installing the new RAM on another laptop, but it wouldn’t boot either. If I put the new 16GB in there, it still won’t start. But if I mix it with an old 8GB stick, it boots and supports up to 24GB total. The HWInfo shows details, and Task Manager and HWID screenshots confirm the issue. Is the problem with the RAM speed or something else? Should we downgrade automatically or look at other settings? Any advice would be great!
Combining various RAM speeds, timings, and brands is mostly chance unless it functions. Purchasing a compatible pair that exceeds the supported rate typically succeeds, though mixing distinct RAM types is risky.
