Problem with the monitor failing to power up.
Problem with the monitor failing to power up.
I recently installed a m.2 SSD on my motherboard and transferred the previous PCIe3 unit to a slower port. When I powered on the PC, the new SSD appeared in Task Manager but not in File Manager. After resetting the system, the screen failed to turn on. I attempted to reinstall the old SSD into its original slot and reattach the GPU, but the screen still wouldn’t power up.
Your screen behavior is unusual. Is it displaying black, with backlighting off and no "No Signal" warning from the OSD? I’ve faced a similar situation before—I had to boot into safe mode, remove my graphics driver using DDU, and reinstall it cleanly to restore visibility. If you have an Nvidia card and recently updated your driver, that could be the cause. Regarding the SSD issue, it won’t appear in the file manager until you initialize it properly—give it a partition and format it via Disk Management. Ensure the initialized drive has no partitions and its available space is just under the SSD’s advertised size to avoid data loss. To enter safe mode without accessing Windows normally, power off the machine by turning off the case power switch three times. This will launch a recovery environment. Navigate to Advanced Settings, select safe mode with networking to download DDU and reinstall your graphics driver. Run DDU, choose relevant options on the first run screen, then remove the driver. You might be prompted to restart, or the system could reboot itself. Once done, you should see a display again. Install the driver you downloaded during safe mode and opt for a clean install to guarantee everything starts fresh.
The display remains dark without any adjustments, and the LED mouse isn't activating either.
Another similar issue occurred with me. My mouse supported RGB, but my keyboard didn’t. Your screen also doesn’t show “No Signal.” When you move the mouse cursor, if an animated blue circle appears, it indicates a graphics driver problem. Follow the steps I suggested—it should resolve the issue. There seems to be a problem with the latest Nvidia driver; a clean installation from the official source worked for me. Simply removing and reinstalling everything via DDU helped restore functionality.
I connect my monitors to the GPU and see the lights flash blue for a brief moment. However, when I power up the computer, the screens remain in standby. I attempted to enter safe mode, but it didn’t make any difference.
Do you have an alternative device ready for testing? Have you also secured the PCIe connection at both the power source and the GPU? Is there a BIOS option to adjust in your GPU?
Launching safely now. System is functioning correctly. Drive layout appears as expected.
