Problem with the driver settings.
Problem with the driver settings.
Hello, my name is Zach. I'm assisting my friend with assembling a computer. We have everything ready to boot up, but we're facing issues with the LAN drivers. Every time we attempt to install them, the CMD prompt appears for two seconds, then displays two lines of code before shutting down. He's running a Ryzen 3700 on a ROG Strix B550-F. Any advice would be greatly appreciated since this is his first build and he's feeling quite frustrated. The ASUS support hasn't helped yet, so I'm reaching out to the best online resources. Thanks, Zach.
I faced the same problem. My PC was built using the Asus Rog Strix B550F. After Windows installation, I saw several unknown devices in Device Manager: Ethernet controller, PCI device X3, PCI encryption/decryption controller, SM Bus controller, and two unidentified items. I updated the BIOS and tried installing the LAN driver from the ASUS website, but it still showed issues. When I used the Intel LAN driver bundle, the utility failed to detect the device for installation.
I also encountered a problem with an ROG STRIX B550-I gaming motherboard. I resolved it by updating Windows 10 to the newest version using a USB drive. The instructions I followed are available here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...5ac3c11c12 Using the media creation tool, I made a backup of Windows 10 for another PC via USB. Then I launched the setup program on the affected machine despite driver issues. Hope this assists you.
I resolved the problem by transferring the ASUS drivers from another machine via USB, extracting them onto the affected system, and using Device Manager to install them by referencing the extracted files.
I also encountered problems with an ROG STRIX B550-I gaming motherboard. The situation was complex. The drivers were stored on a CD, and most recent builds lack an optical drive. I transferred the "Drivers" folder to a USB flash drive. Copying everything might have simplified things. Since the motherboard uses a newer 2.5Gb Intel LAN chip, Windows didn't recognize it. After installing Windows 10, the LAN connection failed. It wasn't possible to install drivers from the CD, Asus site, or Intel's page. Despite having Wi-Fi, I connected to the internet for updates but still couldn't get the LAN driver installed. All other motherboard drivers worked except LAN. Eventually, after rebooting into safe mode and trying to finish the installation or the Armory Crate, it completed successfully once the Asus software was properly installed. Looking at the original ASUS CD, the Armory Crate wasn't listed. It seems the installation of one driver could trigger the download of Armory Crate from the internet, but that wouldn't work if the LAN wasn't set up first. This creates a catch-22 situation. In my case, the 2.5Gb LAN driver wouldn't install unless the Armory Crate was fully installed first. My advice for others facing this issue is: - Install Windows - Install all ASUS motherboard drivers from the CD - Transfer Armory Crate to another PC, copy to USB, install on a new machine - If Armory Crate installation fails, temporarily use another LAN adapter to finish Windows updates - Try to complete the update process again - Once done, attempt the full installation.
Having internet access is straightforward. Downloading drivers for Ethernet can be more challenging. Using a mobile device is easier—connect your phone to the PC and share the WiFi via USB. It’s simple, though there’s an issue: your internet connection might be linked with your mobile, meaning it isn’t private. This prevents installing certain software like Armoury Crate (which may trigger errors like 200). I’ve figured out a workaround: I’ll mount my SSD on the network card and then install Armoury Crate. Once the SSD is connected to the PC again, I’ll just install the LAN driver inside Armoury Crate. I’ll explain the process in detail (note: after a system reset, the driver for Ethernet would fail). Have a great day!
