I updated my bios to the latest vios version (f11d), then replaced my i3 12100f with an i5 13600k. The system would freeze on the CPU indicator and the case power button would flash. After swapping back to the i3 it functioned properly, but I tried again with the i5 and still faced the same issue.
Specs: b760 ds3h ax ddr4 motherboard, i5 13600k cpu, 4x8gb 3200mhz ram, 650w psu, rtx 3070

Did you reset the CMOS after updating your BIOS? What method are you using to manage processor cooling? What is the make and model of your power supply unit?

I removed CMOS after installing i5. Used an aluminum heat sink tower and fan for cooling. PSU options: Corsair or 650W 80 Plus white.

I believe the i5 13600k is no longer functional. It doesn't perform any tasks on my motherboard even after following all troubleshooting procedures. It also doesn't heat up and seems to indicate that no CPU is present.

I purchased an i5 13600k to replace my i3 12100f, but it seems to be non-functional. It only displays a red CPU debug light and doesn’t respond at all on my motherboard. After following all troubleshooting steps with advice from other users, it still doesn’t work. Running it without a cooler shows no temperature rise and suggests the CPU isn’t detected. My i3 12100f is operational (currently writing this post). Is the i5 dead or is there an issue with my motherboard?

To reach the decision that the CPU is at fault, you should place the CPU on a different functional motherboard (not yours) and observe whether it remains cool or if there are any startup issues. Also, note that the PSU in your current setup is unsuitable for me, regardless of its condition.
