Problem with sharing files on Windows network.
Problem with sharing files on Windows network.
At first, the connection appeared as an unknown network and automatically became public. Later, I had to switch it to private. Now it’s set that way. There seems to be no option to erase a network completely, disconnect it, and start fresh with a clean setup.
On the network status page in Win10 settings, you'll find a "reset network" choice at the bottom.
Refer to @Kilrah's advice. Also verify the advanced sharing settings in the network and sharing center—ensure "turn on network discovery" and "turn on automatic setup of network connected devices" are enabled. Setting it to private network should suffice.
Restarted both PCs and the network was reset. Still no updates. Switched to private networks immediately, but nothing happened. All discovery features were active and setup was automatic. Attempted to connect to the computer on "network," but failed. Tried mapping the network drive with the correct address, also unsuccessful.
Hey everyone, I managed to get my laptop up tonight after a couple of weeks. Since I was confident the network share would work, it turned out the problem lies with the server PC or router, not my desktop. That should save me another installation attempt. I’ll update you once the network PC is fixed with a fresh Windows copy, which I’m planning to do this weekend.
