Problem with Shadowplay occurs only in a single game.
I began playing Overwatch about two weeks ago and everything worked smoothly. I’ve been streaming with OBS and recording with Shadowplay without any problems. Now, I keep getting a "connection to server lost" message every time I play. Changing the router or updating the device didn’t help. After turning off Shadowplay and using OBS again, the issue disappeared. It’s strange since I haven’t made any changes before this started happening—no updates, no changes. I’m not sure if reinstalling the driver would fix it. I noticed many people are experiencing the same problem, but nobody mentions Shadowplay. Maybe an update was released recently, or there’s a bug with the game or NVIDIA GFE/Shadowplay itself. It doesn’t crash, just disconnects me from the servers. Also, it isn’t running in the background on Steam. This seems to be specifically related to Shadowplay.
I had a great idea to refresh just the GFE and it worked? "Optimal settings" added support for 50 new titles including: A Plague Tale: Requiem, Against the Storm, Broken Pieces, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of the Wild: The Angler, Construction Simulator, Coral Island, Cross Fire HD RT DLC, Dakar Desert Rally, Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed, Diablo Immortal, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Evil West, F1 Manager 2022, Farthest Frontier, FIFA 23, Football Manager 2023, Gotham Knight, Inside the Backrooms, Isonzo, Lego Brawls, Marauders, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Metal: Hellsinger, MultiVersus, NBA 2K23, Need For Speed Unbound, Overwatch 2, PC Building Simulator 2, Rumbleverse, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Saints Row, Scathe, Shatterline, Sonic Frontiers, Steelrising, The Callisto Protocol, The Chant, Torchlight: Infinite, Tower of Fantasy, TRAHA Global, Two Point Campus, UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Undecember, Victoria 3, Warhammer 40k: Darktide, Way of the Hunter, WRC Generations - The FIA WRC Official Game. So my best guess is they actually released new content for GFE yesterday, maybe even engine tweaks that Nvidia fixed too. It’d be cool if developers explained updates more clearly. It’s odd this wasn’t a driver update but part of the main package, I thought it was separate. Also, it seems fixing overexposed HDR recording helped."
Edit: Before updating GFE my GPU usage spiked to around 90% most of the time in Overwatch 2, but dropped to 30-60% afterward—much better. Still strange since it stayed high even when Shadowplay was off (though I didn’t turn it all down).
