The issue lies in the fact that only ports 0 and 1 appear in the BIOS, while the third port (SATA-2) works correctly when swapped with SATA-1. I’m certain the cable or power supply isn’t faulty, nor is the drive itself. A bit of context: this system was assembled from components purchased on Craigslist. I’ve experienced no problems except with storage solutions. I filled my second HDD and intended to add another, but it didn’t work. I’m using a Dell OptiPlex 3010 MT motherboard. I’m unsure if sharing more specifications would assist in resolving this, but I’m open to providing them if needed. I’ve looked online, but recommendations are limited to checking cables, disk management settings, or enabling drives in the BIOS.

Dell stands out as a unique option. It features four SATA connectors, while the SFF version offers just two. Only two SATA hard drives are compatible. It also accommodates two optical drives. https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/pr...debook.pdf You may find the other two ports limited to optical use, so testing it could reveal more. The SFF model contains space for a DVD-ROM and one hard drive only.

They might appear in the BIOS even without any devices connected, possibly indicating pending configurations or system checks.

You might have encountered a problem with these components that affected SATA ports. To confirm the stepping issue, you'd need to inspect the SSPEC (which requires removing the chipset cooler). Generally, a B2 H61 would be uncommon and likely recalled. According to Intel's documentation, the fixed stepping version (B3) should not have this problem.

I verified the use of the SLJ4B board. The chipset wasn’t included with a heat sink, and it’s only slightly noticeable beneath my GPU.
