Hello, your situation is a bit unclear. Here’s a clearer breakdown:

The 3080 Ti 8K optical HDMI cable you mentioned isn’t directly relevant to the issue. The Samsung S95B monitor only supports 60Hz, not 120Hz. When you tried to set it to 120Hz, the resolution didn’t update properly—only the original 4K x 2K at 60Hz appeared.

You noted that the S95B works in Game Mode and that the "External Device Manager" radio was selected. You also recalled a fix from last night where turning off the monitor temporarily resolved the problem.

During gameplay, the screen would occasionally go black. Switching to an older game helped but wasn’t perfect.

To troubleshoot further:
- Ensure the cable is functioning correctly.
- Check if the monitor supports higher refresh rates (120Hz).
- Try using a different input source or cable.
- If possible, consult Samsung support for the S95B model.

Yes, it's a 2.1 cable. Both the source and monitor support a 2.1 compatibility. Many TVs advertise a 120Hz effective refresh rate, but they often use frame interpolation to achieve that speed.

The cable needs to support high quality—8K at 120Hz works well with 4K—and both the 3080Ti and S95B match that spec. According to HDTVTest, the S95B can reach up to 144Hz as well.

This was resolved by using port 4 on the TV. Trying other ports led to different results: the remote held "Down" to confirm it was a PC source, which displayed a PC image at 4k x 2k 60 hz. In the Nvidia Control Panel, the highest available resolution was 2560 x 1600. Enabling "Input Signal Plus" revealed additional options. I chose 3840x2160 at 120hz and it worked. Turning GAME MODE on via the TV settings caused the screen to go black. This issue repeats across ports. The problem seems linked to either the cable or the TV being off, so I’ll restart it later to check.

The TV continues the same pattern since the beginning. I think the problem might be related to the cable connection.

Failure detected in the cable. Needed to rent an additional 8K cable from a nearby shop, shut down the PC, and transport it to the TV for testing. Successfully achieved 4K at 120Hz (previously supported up to 144Hz without problems).

Did you manage to connect with a long cable? I’ve used three 15m HDMI 2.1 active cables (only one matters). You’re facing the same problem. The TV shows 4K at 120Hz with 10-bit RGB HDR, but it drops when you switch to gaming mode.

It's worth noting I faced a comparable problem. Activating Game Mode resolved it right away. Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't catch any of those remarks—my new proper cable performed as expected. Luckily, I managed to check other cables against the suspected faulty one.
