I own a fresh Asus Zephyrus with the Ryzen 3750H processor. It constantly adjusts its speed to 400MHz or roughly 0.39 GHz, regardless of battery status or power settings. No matter the plan it's running on, this happens every time it restarts. After updating the BIOS just two days ago, the issue persists. The machine isn’t overheating and performs even with light tasks.

Same here. It keeps causing stutters in games by lowering the frequency to 400 mhz. Tested with demanding titles (Witcher 3, etc.) and less intense ones (Faeria, table games) and they all stutter at some point with the CPU dropping to that level. I adjusted game settings and used software like Parkcontrol, but nothing worked. Also tried the 99% CPU trick in Windows 10 power settings and various BIOS/driver versions. Watched temperature and power usage, but nothing out of the ordinary.

It's a recognized issue I think stems from a BIOS problem. I recall seeing it in a tech video, and after trying to find the clip, I recently reset my PC and lost all my browsing history. I'm pretty sure Gamers Nexus fixed it—check out Steve's channel for more details.

Hi guys, i own the same laptop and i'm currently having the exact same issue resulting in huge fps drops. I'm on BIOS 208 and also tried 207 without success. Did you figure out what is causing this throttle? I've also tried reinstalling Armoury Crate stuff but the throttle persists. Currently thinking about going back to 206 BIOS, but not sure though if it is safe to keep downgrading. Here are a few articles related to see if you we can figure this together: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?...7#p1859287 https://translate.google.com/translate?h...dki-FPS%2F Also there´s a best buy review adressing the issue. I've opened a ticket on ASUS assistance to notice the error. Waiting for response.

They sent the laptop in for a return due to a defect, and they promise to fix it. The $30 shipping cost is definitely worth it.

Another issue occurred today. Support from ASUS claimed it was a hardware problem with the CPU and promised a fix. I’m still unsure because I think the BIOS that came with my laptop (probably version 204) didn’t have that defect. Unfortunately, those older BIOS versions aren’t available on the ASUS website. I’m considering sending it in tomorrow unless I discover a solution.

No, you haven't received it yet. You can obtain the 205 BIOS by modifying the number in the download link of the previous versions. For example: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Gamin...UAS205.zip?

I got it back via RMA, but it keeps showing throttling issues. They’re asking me to send it back again.

No one has verified if lowering the BIOS version resolves the problem. I haven’t tested it myself; I submitted it because of other concerns. The return reason notes they’re awaiting components.

I have the exact same problem for the exact model of laptop (GA502 Asus Zephyrus with Ryzen 3750H). I managed to downgrade to BIOS 203 and the problem still shows up (but later in a stress or Gaming situation). The following BIOS versions all have the .39 GHz power state firmware bug: 203, 205, 206, 207, 208 These are the only ones I have access to. If anyone has 204 I would love to try it. Personally, I am 95% certain (arbitrary number I know) that this is a BIOS issue with AMD ASGEA. We need Asus to release a new BIOS that has ASGEA ABBA included. I am a test engineer for a large fab-less chip company. This kind of dumb problem seems like a firmware issue. It appears that when the CPU hits max temp, the firmware throttles directly to the lowest power sate.... and stays there until a hard reboot. Different BIOS's (in my tested list above) behave slightly differently (throttle down at 90 c vs 92 c) but the core (pun intended) issue is that the firmware throttles the chip down to .39 GHz and locks it there.
