I experienced some power problems with my computer. It wouldn't turn on, so I took it to a repair shop for an estimate. They suggested replacing the PSU—previously an EVGA 850w 80 plus gold, now upgraded to an EVGA 1000w 80plus gold. They estimated $250 for the replacement. After watching some YouTube guides, I decided to handle it myself. Once everything was unplugged and a few cables were swapped, I found a couple of issues. First, my SATA data cable got broken and was just stuck together with tape. Second, a few GPU power adapter cables were missing. (Video attached) My question is, is it typical for this 12pin to 8pin adapter to be disconnected in this way? For reference, I own a NVIDIA 3070 FE. 20230626_235814.mp4

Is the GPU functioning properly? I don’t suggest powering it up any more, and it seems your adapter might be faulty—consider replacing it.

Did the shop do that? Please return to the store and request full compensation for the damaged SATA data cable. If they decline, consider seeking legal recourse.

Do you think that's correct? It worked after swapping the PSU, but I haven’t tested anything else yet. Also, I’m still trying to locate the same adapter but haven’t found it anywhere.

The store clearly damaged the SATA data cable, though I’m uncertain about the GPU adapter. I’ll reach out to them regarding the cable issue.

I acquired the pre-built model from NZXT roughly two years ago.

You might need a different adapter next time. The SATA cable is typically used for connecting drives, not RGB controllers.

They didn’t include a second SATA cable with the box, should’ve provided two as usual.
