We recently replaced our CPU from the i7 8700k to the i9 9900k. It’s rebooting with all 32GB RAM installed, and we also tried booting using two RAM sticks in slots B1 and B2 while the i9 was in A1 and B2. The specs before the i7 8700k were AsRock and Radeon RX 6800X. The motherboard is an Asus ROG Strix Z370-E, powered by Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) at 3400MHz, with a 1000W PSU. We’re uncertain if the RAM is faulty or if the slots are defective, causing the computer to power off.

They might not be compatible on their own. Check if an update is available for your BIOS, as that could resolve the issue.

All four slots functioned with the existing CPU, but we still needed to reset the CMOS each time we adjusted RAM or CPU settings. The CMOS retained the prior configuration, which is why we resorted to power cycling.
