Problem with reinstalling w11 on an Acer Aspire 3
This is insane, I assumed it would take only ten minutes, but instead I spent hours here sweating in 30 degrees heat trying to make it work.
My friend brought over a laptop – an Acer Aspire A315-59 53DC – because it wasn’t performing well and we couldn’t get the office to install it. I decided to wipe it clean and try a fresh W11 installation (it already had W11 installed). I’ve also re-formatted many PCs, both laptops and desktops, for more than twenty years, so I’m not naive.
First of all, the drive wasn’t showing up, so I had to look for drivers for it – never encountered this before in all those years. Eventually, I managed to install it (using the Rufus version that sets up the account/privacy, etc.). I also had to adjust the BIOS settings to get the boot menu working.
Secondly, the laptop lacks a network connector (RJ45), which is completely frustrating – I need Wi-Fi functionality now.
Thirdly, the Acer website is down, and it looks like this has been an issue for over a year. How can I get drivers so Wi-Fi works properly? I was hoping W11 would already include these drivers.
Acer seems to be advising against reinstalling Windows for free; just throw it in the bin and buy a new one.
I can check the link for you.

If the laptop was already having problems, are you certain the drive isn't failing? If I checked the correct model, this looks like a 12th generation Intel build—still a pretty useful machine worth trying. Do you have an extra drive available for testing?
I just believe it was all unnecessary bloat he added. After downloading the drivers, copying them to a USB drive still shows an error about not being able to copy properties.
Usually a USB flash drive is formatted with exFAT. When copying from an NTFS drive to exFAT, file access rights are often lost.
I initially suspected a faulty flash drive, but switching to another one resolved the issue. After completing all five WIF drivers and repeatedly installing them, the problem finally cleared up once Wi-Fi functioned properly. It’s puzzling why the Acer site doesn’t work in Firefox or Chrome, possibly due to adblockers I’m using.
