Hello everyone, I recently switched my GPU from a RTX 3080 to a new RTX 5080 from Amazon. The model in question is an 'ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition'. As mentioned, I’m not receiving any signal from it via HDMI or all three DP ports. Over the past six months, my system has run smoothly with the 3080 installed, and I haven’t encountered any problems. The HDMI from my motherboard using AMD integrated graphics is functioning perfectly. I’m generally quite tech-savvy, but I do have my challenges, so I’d really appreciate any advice you can offer.

I’ve tried various things:
- Changed monitors
- Used different cables (HDMI + DP)
- Checked DDU settings
- Updated the motherboard BIOS
- Tested another PCIe slot
- Used the adapter that came with the 5080 (12VHPWR, 16-pin to 3x8-pin), and the cable from my PSU (2x8-pin to 12V-2x6)
- Reinstalled NVIDIA drivers, but couldn’t complete the process as the GPU wasn’t detected
- Device manager only lists integrated graphics
- Confirmed all three GPU fans are spinning up (believing my model isn’t RGB)

Here are my system details:

Updated MB BIOS information available at the provided link. Check if you reset the CMOS after updating to the newest BIOS version. Assess the age of your PSU and whether it previously powered only the RTX 3080 before the RTX 5080. Confirm the GPU was securely installed. There have been forum reports about a PCIe Slot Q-Release issue causing improper seating of the card in the first PCIe slot. It might be worth trying to install the GPU on a newer platform with the latest BIOS to check for any problems.

The latest BIOS version is 1404. All system parts are under six months old, which makes me think the PSU is still in good shape and a 1300W rating is more than sufficient, although it did power my RTX 3080. The GPU appears to be properly seated, though I was initially concerned about the Q-Slot. After repositioning it, it felt secure. The PCIe slot below it works fine, being less sensitive than the Q-Slot. I plan to try this in a 7700K build, but I doubt the PSU would handle it well.

The RTX3000 line was recognized for significant temporary power demands, prompting recommendations to increase PSU wattage beyond standard specs when purchasing a new unit. For RTX 3080 users, a reliable 1KW to 1.2KW PSU was suggested. However, after six months, I doubt such a PSU would still be capable of supporting your GPU upgrade. I’m considering testing it in my 7700K build but think the power supply would be insufficient. Perhaps using a donor platform could work—pairing your GPU and PSU with a donor build might be a better option. For the RTX 5080, an 850W reliably built unit should suffice.

Yeah, my 7700K build only has a 750W PSU so I don't believe I'd be able to test using that. I went ahead and RMA'd my ASUS 5080, and picked up a PNY 5080 ARGB OC instead. Unfortunately I am still having issues. Card fans start up and RGB light up, but still no display with any combiantion of monitos/cables. In the Q-Dashboard of my Motherboard BIOS it shows a little schematic of my motherboard and whats connected and it doesn't seem to detect that anything is in my PCIe slot. I've tried forcing PCIe 3, 4, and 5 modes, but it didn't make a difference so I'm just leaving that on Auto. I really don't want to send in my Motherboard to ASUS as I feel like that would realistically be worst case scenario. The only factors that I can really think of is that a 5080 is PCIe 5.0 or maybe my PSU is faulty and not delivering the full amount of power.
Update: Just plugged in my 1070Ti and this is also working just like my 3080 was. I feel like I'm going crazy here, there's no way that both of these 5080s are DOA. Is there any other motherboard settings, I have to mess around with? Also was able to measure 12VDC on each of the PCIe 8-Pins to ground, but I'm not sure how conclusive this test could be for a faulty power supply. At this point I feel like the issues would be strictly related to either my MOBO or my PSU.
