Problem with RAM performance? Let me know!
Hello there, you're dealing with a curious situation. Recently I upgraded to DDR5 and transferred my old RAM to my girlfriend's PC, which now has four 8GB modules from G.Skill Trident Z 3200MHz. For an odd reason, CPU-Z displays incorrect speeds for the four sticks. It feels like it's running at 2133 MHz instead of the expected rate. I've adjusted the XMP profile multiple times and even forced the RAM to 3200MHz in BIOS, but it keeps saying overclocking failed. I returned to the auto configuration. This issue occurred before when mixing different RAMs, though I was certain about compatibility. With all four modules installed, it's causing confusion. MOBO compatibility seems fine after checking several times. All RAMs show 2133 MHz, yet it doesn't match expectations. The only clue is that something might be wrong with the MOBO module—perhaps it's outdated. My system specs include a RYZEN 5700X B450M PRO VDH-PLUS with 32GB G.Skill Trident Z at 3200MHz, powered by a 550W PSU and running on Windows 11.
Start with all four sticks connected together. This setup can be challenging on Ryzen processors, especially with two different kits; the minor binning differences make it tough. Adjust settings manually—use 3200MHz and keep timing consistent, letting other parameters auto-adjust. Experiment with DRAM voltage between +0.05 and +0.1V above the recommended level, for instance starting at 1.35V if XMP is enabled, aiming for 1.4–1.45V.
