I possess a backward compatible PS3 that I've soft modded for monitoring temperatures and testing the system. The readings are normal, rarely exceeding 60°C on the CPU and the RSX. However, launching games often causes shutdowns—either during loading or after a few minutes, accompanied by beeps and a red light. For some time it would randomly exit in the main menu or become unresponsive while using it for streaming services like Netflix or YouTube. My research suggests high temperatures might be the issue, though I'm unsure if that's accurate since I don't have elevated temps. I've also tried replacing the PSU with another unit, but it didn't help. I'm still trying to figure out the best solution.
The backward-compatible PS3 might require a CPU upgrade at some point.
