GPU model: MSI Gaming Trio 4070 Ti
CPU: RYZEN 7800x3D
Motherboard: MSI MAG X670-E Tomahawk WIFI
RAM: 32 GB G-series DDR5 @5200MHZ
Power Supply: Corsair RM850x (2021)
Case: Lian Li 011 XL
CPU Cooler: Corsair h150i Elite LCD 360mm
Operating System & Version: Windows 11 Pro
Issue Summary: After a fresh installation, system started but overheated severely. Temperatures spiked to over 100°C before shutdown. After multiple troubleshooting steps—reapplying thermal paste, checking cooling, reinstalling components, and updating BIOS—the machine refused to boot and displayed no USB devices.
Troubleshooting Attempts:
- Reseated cooler after applying new paste
- Verified mounting pressure and fan settings
- Reinstalled CPU and cooler entirely
- Inspected for missing plastic parts
- Adjusted fan orientation and curve
- Updated BIOS via MFLASH (crashed)
- Removed CMOSS battery temporarily
- Considered BIOS flash without CPU
Current Status: Stuck on cause. Temperatures were normal during idle but failed after power cycle. Seeking advice on next steps, especially about a BIOS flash attempt.
A crash during a BIOS update increases the risk of damaging the motherboard. Clearing the CMOS removes temporary BIOS settings, but permanent changes require updating another BIOS file via M-flash or standard method. If the system is already broken, flashing again might not work. For M-flash, it's best to perform the operation without CPU, GPU, RAM, or storage. Good luck!
