I had an EVGA GTX 970 SC before the upgrade, hoping to boost its performance, which shouldn’t have been the issue. I used the 3DMARK Benchmark to check stability, but even after increasing the core clock to +250 MHz, the FPS remained unchanged. I’m new to GPU overclocking and don’t know if it’s a bug, but it seems the overclock isn’t working properly. (Yes, I’ve tried the apply button before you asked). The temperature was set to 85°C, but it never exceeded 74°C, and the power limit was at 110%, so I didn’t try raising the core voltage because I was a bit nervous about it.

You're asking for a clearer explanation of how overclocking affects FPS, so I'll be more precise in describing the changes involved.

It worked eventually, and the overclock is actually taking effect, so I should stop worrying about that. It's a new issue now, and it's really frustrating. I have a GTX 970 SSC, not an SC, and I gradually tried to increase the clock speed, but I can't go beyond 50 MHz above the base frequency. Should I raise my voltage to make it work, or is this impossible? Sorry if it sounds silly, but I'm really upset.

You might have to boost the voltage. Refer to my PM for details.
