Problem with overclocked RAM not turning on
Problem with overclocked RAM not turning on
I attempted to increase my RAM speed by adjusting the MHz in the BIOS (ab350 Mobo) and it worked initially, but later caused freezing. After resetting it back to normal speed, it functioned well for most of the day again, then froze once more. Today I powered on the PC, but there is no display at all.
restart the BIOS settings
full system details? list the PSU make and model
I attempted to increase my RAM speed from 2400mhz to 2800mhz by adjusting the BIOS setting from 24.00 to 28.00. It worked initially for a day, but after some hours it froze. The next day I reverted it back to 24.00 and everything functioned normally until it froze again later. The following day I powered on the PC, but no display appeared on the monitor. I tried resetting the CMOS, changing RAM slots, but nothing resolved the issue. My motherboard isn’t emitting any codes, and all display lights remain active while fans spin. I can only use an HDMI cable since my PC isn’t compatible with other screens. I’m thinking about purchasing a spare RAM stick to test if it helps. Any suggestions?
any ddr4 should operate at 2400. If you haven't already, attempt one stick at a time assuming you have more than one. Single channel ram is a significant bottleneck so I suspect you'd have two. If it still doesn't boot, it's likely the ram isn't the issue. I'd also consider reseating the 8 pin CPU power cable and the GPU plus any other cables. If there have been any sudden temperature drops, especially due to thermal contraction, something might not be making good contact because of this. I've noticed this happen especially with ram during winter. If you've tried one stick at a time, you might want to use a PSU tester and check the CPU 8 pin. If that works fine then testing the GPU would be my next step. If the GPU is functional then you may have a faulty motherboard.
So i tried boot the pc without a gpu with the hdmi connected to the motherboard. But still no display.
