i have removed office 2013 to test the newer version, but the start menu folder remains inaccessible. it’s not showing up in any of the expected paths: 1) c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs 2) c:\users\%my user%\roaming\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs. i reinstalled it from the control panel, ran Microsoft Fix It, used the uninstaller with iobit, and even tried regcure after removal, but nothing resolved the issue. my last attempt was to open power shell as admin and run a specific command to check for appx packages, which still detected an active bundle.

discovered another application: cheat engine 6.3, probably where the issue began. I upgraded to a newer version 6.4, but the old one remained, so I removed it and exited the control panel. After installing Office 2016 and reviewing the updates, everything seemed resolved.

installed is already complete. I have three program folders that remain: cheat engine 6.3, cheat engine 6.4, and microsoft office 2013. They aren’t located in any start menu-related directories. I plan to reinstall them all and then remove them using safe mode.

Consider updating the start menu fix without altering your user account settings.

I just tested it and it caused everything to go wrong—missing edge, no shortcuts in the taskbar, and it didn’t respond when I clicked Start or anything. Fortunately, I had a restore point ready, so I brought it back to normal.
