Problem with Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition showing poor performance even on decent systems
Did you discover a solution? I'm facing the same issue, and even with a less powerful machine (RTX3050), I rarely achieve 20-40 fps in this game at 1080p. I've tried everything—lowering settings and using DLSS ultra performance—but only gained about 5 fps compared to the ultra version. I suspect there might be an issue with the RT cores on our cards. Did you experience the same problem when enabling RT on other games?
I frequently run ray tracing on almost every other title I own, though sometimes I struggle to maintain 60 fps on ultra settings. It hasn’t been as severe as it was with Exodus. It’s been a while now, so I don’t recall precisely, but it seems the problem might lie with the processor. I experienced extreme bottlenecks when using the PC enhanced, and the stutters in the base edition were also due to my CPU reaching its limit. If you have a 12th generation Intel system like mine, that could be a contributing factor, though I’m not entirely certain. The information I found online suggested the game might not fully utilize all of my CPU’s cores, instead forcing it to use e-cores.
when you're experiencing this poor performance, is your hardware functioning properly? could you share your CPU and GPU utilization percentages along with their temperatures? I'm facing very low performance, and adjusting settings doesn't seem to help. The key issue appears to be that both my CPU and GPU are consistently under 30% usage and remain very cold. My GPU is drawing less than 50 watts, while it can handle a peak of 175 watts and operates at 135-140 watts continuously. It seems the system isn't attempting to run the game properly—it reports 55 frames per second when capped at 60fps, but my low frames are below 20fps, causing stuttering and skipping, even with audio issues.
I could understand if I didn’t have the necessary hardware to play it, but there might be another factor involved. I’ve verified my Windows updates, NVIDIA drivers, and BIOS were recently updated, so everything should be current. Every other game runs smoothly, especially those with ray tracing in newer, more demanding titles.
Some recommended options include:
- Lenovo Legion 7 Pro
- Ryzen 7945HX
- NVIDIA 4080 Mobile
- 32GB DDR5 RAM
- Samsung SSD PCIe 4
This setup should handle modern games well, but it’s currently unplayable for this title.
