I performed a BIOS update and swapped in the M.2 SSD, but it’s not appearing in Windows. The SSD is connected via USB, yet I can’t access it. Is there something wrong with the drive or the system?

Remove dirt from the M.2 fins and attempt once more. Or switch to a different port.

The M.2 fins are working, but I've checked both ports.

It might be a configuration in the BIOS, but it could also stem from a hardware issue.

You're running the MSI B450M MORTAR MAX with a WD Green SSD 480GB.

Begin by resetting the BIOS. If it’s already done, it’s likely a hardware issue because this board is newer and probably not compatible with your SSD. Ensure the device is clean and installed correctly.
